FAQ
Q:
How much time and effort can we save with ParadigmaCare ?
A:
Test cases have shown that a single unit may save 100 nursing hours per month, solely by using the MDS, RAPs and QI features. Additional 65 nursing hours are saved using Nursing Notes, Infection Control and Care plan features. Efforts saved by other disciplines are currently evaluated.
Q:
Can we identify what, who, and when the health record of one of the residents has been accessed?
A:
Yes. Based on HIPAA and advanced security and auditable methods, ParadigmaCare documents any access to any record, tracing the user ID, time stamp and action (add new note, DC an order etc.).
Q:
Can the staff access the facilities P&P’s ?
A:
Yes. While in the ParadigmaCare system, all authorized personnel may access, view and print any facility's Policy or Procedure document, thus saving precious time.
Q:
How can we schedule meetings and conferences ?
A:
The ParadigmaCare™ system has a built-in function to manage personal calendars, schedule meetings with several team members and have the system find the right time slot, invite them and receive their replies.
Q:
Where can we find more information on drugs and diseases ?
A:
Whenever using ParadigmaCare with an active Internet connection, you can highlight a term or phrase on any screen, not just drugs or diseases, and have the system initiate an online web search directly through one of the famous medical search engines, such as PubMed, Merck, MedScape, RxList, or even Google.
Q:
Why do we need to record symptoms ?
A:
Mainly because they are an important and integral part of the resident’s Health Record, but also because while associating Symptoms (from a list of hundreds) to a resident, ParadigmaCare prompts you with possible causes and recommended diagnostic studies, and also any and all Careplans you may need to initiate to handle the symptom, all to increase quality of care.
Q:
What are those icons next to the resident’s name ?
A:
While viewing the list of residents in ParadigmaCare, you are constantly shown relevant and important indications, such as Residents on Close Monitoring, Order Sign-Off due, No Payment Source, and more.
Q:
What happens if I mistakenly enter an illogical value for Blood Pressure?
A:
That is impossible. ParadigmaCare checks any vital sign input, and alerts you if the entry is out of normal range or even prevents unacceptable values (temperature over 107, respirations under 10 etc.)
Q:
What is CPS and how do we get it?
A:
CPS is the “Cognitive Performance Scale” standard, developed by CMS. ParadigmaCare automatically calculates CPS’s for every MDS performed.
Q:
Do we still need to fill out CMS forms 672 and 802?
A:
No. With ParadigmaCare you can automatically generate the most updated, most accurate CMS forms 672 and 802 whenever required, for state surveys or internal auditing.
Q:
How do we prevent physician from giving contradicting orders?
A:
ParadigmaCare’s Order entry module notifies the physician of any and all interactions a given medication has with other medications, allergies or even diagnoses. Precautions are displayed as well for the physician to consider.
Q:
Does ParadigmaCare handle RAP’s?
A:
Yes. The system can automatically complete MDS’s section V for you, calculating the triggered RAP’s and using the extensive Care Plan module.
Q:
What is ‘MAGIX’?
A:
ParadigmaCare’s MAGIX (Medical And General Information eXchange) gives you a simple, email-like way of conferring with colleagues, exchanging information, and discuss various issues.
Q:
Do I really need to see all the residents in the facility on screen?
A:
No. Caregivers may login into ParadigmaCare while stating their unit, and the system will display residents from that unit only. You can always range residents by Gender, Attending Physician, and Status etc.
Q:
Do we need to teach our staff Latin to understand medical terms?
A:
No. ParadigmaCare has a staff educational dictionary of medical terms, prefixes and suffixes accessible at any time to increase professionalism.
Q:
Do we need to manually enter allergens?
A:
No. Input of allergies in ParadigmaCare is supported by a pre-defined list of many hundreds of allergens (from ACE Inhibitors to Zonisamide as well as AE-Eggs, Cloves etc.) and a set of typical reactions e.g. Anaphylactic, rash, higher BP. All allergens are FDA recognized and properly coded.
Q:
Do we need to manually record where we find Pressure Wounds?
A:
No. ParadigmaCare has a built-in “atlas” of the human body, allowing you to point and click on a "human figure" (gender sensitive) and the system recognizes the exact organ. That figure is an integrative part of the wound-care record and may be printed as well.
Q:
Do we need to enter ICD-9, NDC, and other codes?
A:
No. ParadigmaCare comes with built-in libraries of diagnoses, medications, procedures and allergies, all fully compliant with the national and professional standards.
Q:
Can we still create and perform our own assessments?
A:
Yes. You can create and perform any type of assessment, both standard and facility defined, quickly and easily, and have the system calculate the scores, and maintain the schedule for re-assessment.
Q:
What are Preferences used for?
A:
Preferences are used to record the residents’ likes and dislikes, food choices, religious practices and more. They are also used to record the types of recreational activities they like to attend, so the TRD personnel know who to invite to each planned activity.
